Tidy Home: We all know things can be pretty hectic when your a working mom. Thankfully I am able to work from home but sometimes I feel that it can be even worse since you’re constantly being pulled in every direction. I have a almost two year old and am a week away from our delivery date for our second son, so yeah things are going to be crazy here in the next few months. This is why I tried to create a consistent schedule to keep the house as clean in the best way I can. I’m also going to share some of the tools I use and are super helpful for keeping a tidy home, especially being nine months pregnant!
HOW TO KEEP A TIDY HOME AS A WORKING MOM
Tidy Home: How do I do it? With the help of my husband and keeping a consistent schedule. There are tasks that I do everyday, but I prioritize certain days for some of the bigger tasks. I learned this trick from my mother in law. Her home is always well kept and it looks like she has someone constantly cleaning everyday. One day I decided to ask her how she does it. She simply replied, she blocks out days and prioritizes certain tasks for those days. She told me it made it way easier than trying to do everything all in a two day weekend. Who wants to do that anyways when you also have kids functions and family events on the weekends. Plus I think weekends should be a time to relax and hang out with the family. especially if you work 40+ hours during the week.
Let’s break it down. I like to start with Sundays first in the schedule. These are the days that I take to clean some of the bigger ticket items so I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the week. This includes cleaning bathrooms, sinks, toilets, and showers. I also clean my son’s humidifier early on in the day so it has all day to dry and function properly at night. If you’re curious we have the Frida Baby humidifier. We love this one so much that we bought two so far and actually plan to get a third. If needed, I can do a full review post on it. Just leave a comment below to let me know if you’d like a full product review.
One major tool that helps with Sundays is this baby below! See Product link here.

I purchased this when I no longer could bend over as easily with my growing pregnant belly. I can use it to clean the entire bathroom! I can also use it in other areas of the home with the other attachments it comes with.
The next day in the schedule is pretty simple. Since it’s a Monday and let’s face it everyone gets the case of the Mondays, I tried to keep this day light. We have laundry that needs to be done and a quick tidy up of the main traffic areas in our home.
Tuesdays are a light clean up of the living room (ours right now is under construction, so I don’t have to worry about for now) but typically I would make sure everything is in order, clean window sills and clean drapery.
Wednesdays are also a quick day on how to keep your home tidy. I make sure doorknobs are cleaned and some light dusting. My husband will tell you, I am the last person that wants to dust but it is still on the list. By Wednesday we are swamped with taking care of the kids and work that we actually dedicate it to our Starbucks day as well.
EACH STEP I TAKE TO KEEP MY HOME TIDY AS A WORKING MOM
Tidy Home: Thursdays I like to catch up on end of the week laundry. I also squeeze in sweeping and mopping the floors. I try to sweep daily if it needs it but Thursdays are the main days to do this.
Fridays and Saturdays are the bulk of a reset for the week. Friday being the end of the work week, I try to come up with the following week’s meal plan and put in a grocery order. I used to dread doing this, however with online pickup as an option it makes my life so much easier. I’m not sure if I was just oblivious to this but online orders actually tend to save us more money. Some of the apps offer lower prices if shopped online instead of picking them up in the store. You also save yourself from impulse buying and gaining rewards perks.
I also vacuum and wash our bedding and blankets for the following week. Saturdays I like to clean the kitchen and clean out the fridge and pantry and meal prep for the next week with the grocery meal plan I created the day before. Usually this can take a total of 3 hours out of my Saturday. Depending on the meal plan, cooking can take up to two hours and an hour for the deep clean.
I want to take a pause and offer my free schedule guide that has each day broken down with the chores I have to make my home as tidy as possible with the little, the hubs and a pooch.

Let’s recap. I try to make things as simple as possible so that way you don’t feel overwhelmed throughout the week. We discussed tools that can help with the cleaning process and also what tasks can be saved for the weekends and which one we can focus on while we also have work and other things going as well. I also want to add some of the cleaning can be done before the littles get up or when they go to bed.
This is where my husband is a great help, I usually give him the job of watching the little one while I complete my list for the day. Or sometimes he does offer to let me relax and take over what needs to be done as well. I also included my free schedule guide for you to keep and print off to have a sense of direction for a tidy home. This schedule works for me and my household and I hope it will work for yours as well.
